October reflection

 Today I was reflecting on my work  that I've done this month. My favourite thing has been that I have  beaten to level 100 wizards  on Prodigy. I feel awesome

Speak Your Mind

For reading we were learning to state for and against. I found it easy to write why you should wear a hat outside because we have to wear hats at school in Term 1 and in Term 4.

I found it tricky to write about students playing sport because I have only played 1 match for sport. I was goalie but then I moved to Gisborne and didn't join a team.

September reflection

Today we were doing our September reflection. We have been reading The mega monster .For the last week of term we are surviving a zombie apocalypse. This month I have enjoyed getting up to level 82 on Prodigy.

No Girls Allowed

This week for reading I read No Girls Allowed, I was learning to identify the characters and their points of view.  Here is my table and evaluation sheet.

I think Mr wolf is guilty

This week for writing I was learning how to structure my piece of writing. It's about why Mr Wolf is guilty or not guilty of first degree murder I enjoyed writing this because it was easy.

what I found challenging to finish it on time.

I  strongly believe  Mr Wolf is guilty of first degree murder

because  he  killed Grandma and Red. I will tell you my four reasons

why  he is guilty. Firstly he broke into grandma's house. He jumped through the window and chased her around. 

Once he caught her he locked grandma up in the cupboard against her will because he was saving her for dinner.

Thirdly  he impersonated grandma  by dressing up in her clothes and pretended to be her. He was waiting for Red in Grandma's bed, when Red arrived he ate her. 

 Once he ate Red 

Mr Wolf  was still hungry. He then went to the cupboard, grabbed Grandma and ate her too.

  

This is why Mr Wolf is guilty of murder in the first degree. Do  you agreed with me now

 this week for reading we were learning about  the Coral reefs  and how we can protect them. I worked with Kylah on this slideshow.

 This week for reading I was in to analyse and synthesise. This means to look at the information and to put my ideas together.  I have been reading about Little Red Riding Hood, watching two videos about Little Red Riding Hood  and the Big Bad Wolf. Do you think Mr Wolf is innocent or guilty of eating the grandma. This is what I think  guilty.

Egg Project part 2

 

Stage 2.

On day two the egg skin peeled off and it was on the side of the jar and was  dark brown. The egg turned white.

I am showing the rubbish I collected around the school native trees. There was so much. We were collecting the rubbish to stop it going down the drain. So many sea creature die because of eating plastic. We were helping the sea, the rivers and the animals.

We put the egg into the glass jar. Then we put vinegar into the jar and then we left it for a couple of hours. The vinegar went fuzzy and the eggs skin started to peel off. Noe's skin on his egg peeled off faster than mine. I think tomorrow the red skin might disappear and the egg might turn white.

Olympic NZ Champion - Report

In Writing we have been learning to paragraph. I had to stick to one topic, and my first  sentence is my topic sentence. I have added 2-3 supporting details my last sentence is a concluding sentence. 

 Eve Thomas  is a NZ swimmer. She is 20 years old. She was born on the February 9th in SOUTHEND.  She was raised in Australia. Her family lives in BRISBANE. The reason I chose her is because I like swimming and because she is 9 years older than me. Her mother Sarah Hardcastle represented Great Britain in swimming at the Olympic Games in 1984 and 1996, winning a silver medal in the 400m freestyle and a bronze in the 800m freestyle in 1984. Her father Lee Thomas played rugby for Swansea Rund by Football Club in Wales., 10 July 2012.

I also enjoyed learning about her mother and father and that they have all won medals.

This week for reading we were learning to  skim and scan .I did not finish  my slide because I was too busy doing the backgrounds, next time I will do my facts first.

Gamefroot

For the past few week's for Cybersmart we have been learning how to create a game by using coding. We used Gamefroot to create our own game, My game is called The Lost Guardian. I have found it really hard because it keeps on glitching and deleting my game. I found the coding really hard and it has been very stressful. Everytime I have gone to load my game or open it, it glitches and wont load, because I have just worked out it hasn't been saving properly.  Here is what I have so far .

Student-Led Conference

This week for writing we are learning to write an invitation. My invitation is to my Mum and Hamish for my  Student-Led Conference. A invitation is something that you send to your parents to invite them to something special. I added my Tom Fedro art to the front of my card, I choose a wolf for the background of my invitation because I'm a fan of wolfs. I am looking forward to having my Mum and Hamish in my class to show them all my learning. 

I found it easy to write the invitation because Mrs Naden had written a draft with ideas on it for us to use. My learning object shows I know how to create a invitation on google slideshows. 

 

Financial Literacy

 This week for maths we have been learning about financial literacy.  Callum from ASB,Be Wise came into teacher us about money and starting our own business. We had to plan to pay for something like a PS5 which was my money goal. To plan a money goal you have to have a clear plan which can be remembered as C.A.S.H which means:

Save money so you can get what you want 

How long it will take to get to a money goal.

My business idea is to become a paid Youtuber to teach people how to draw, but I have to wait until I'm 13 to become a Youtuber.

Wanted Poster

This week for reading I read Odysseus and the Cyclops. I am learning to Infer, Inferring means when you're reading a story and it has clues but not the answer. Our task was to create a Wanted Poster for the Cyclops in case it ever escaped from the cave. I inferred that he had one eye and gold armour. I also inferred he was mean because in the story he ate 6 men.

I found it challenging to remember what inferring means.

Piskel Art

 This week we have been learning to create a Piskel art character for a game that we will be creating. My game will be this Robot saving people from buildings that are on fire, that's why he has water blasters for hands. I really enjoyed making my Piskel art because I have many ideas of what to create. I can't wait to design more characters and improve this character that I have created below. His name is Fire bot66.

Museum of Technology

Hi. This week for reading we have been learning about past Technology. We visited the Museum of Technology. We were given a map of the Museum and we had to do a Scavenger Hunt, it was a lot of fun looking around for everything in the pictures. I saw an army vehicle, motorbikes, fire engines, old cars, small models of sailing  ships, a water tank fire engine and a lot of other technology. There was also an old jail house, it was next to the old sled house, I got to go inside it. Everyone in my group thought the jail house was scary and smelly but I didn't think it was. Here is the photo of me driving a fire truck.

 

Introducing myself in Sign Language

For reading this week we have been learning how to do Sign Language, we were learning to analyse and synthesis. This means I had to read articles and watch some videos and use some information I needed to make my own video. I had to watch four videos of different people showing us how they do their names and colours in Sign Language. 

 

My digital learning shows me practising my name in Sign Language, my first video is me getting it wrong so I then had to re-record it because my hands were to low and you couldn't see my hands doing the sign language.  My final video is my good recording you can see my hands at all times. 

I enjoyed doing my recordings because I got to see myself doing sign language which helped me learn my name.

I found it hard to form the letters of my name, because I couldn't remember the formation of the letters, I had to practise these quite a lot.

Next time I will try and keep my hands up so I get it right the first time and don't have to keep re-recording. 

ANZAC Worjtek

This week for reading I was learning to summarise, I was reading about famous animal war heroes, I watched 3 videos and read some stories online, I choose Worjtek for my hero because  his name sounded cool.

I enjoyed watching the videos because it showed a lot of information about him and that helped me hold the facts in my brain easier.

I found it challenging to find the logo of Worjtek, I had to search for it on google.

My digital learning object shows that I can make a slide show, 

Next time I will focus more on staying on task by ignoring the people and noises around me.

Te Kuri a Paoa

This week for art we drew Te Kuri a  Paoa, We used pastle's and black paper. I drew the outline of the Kuri first, and then I used a yellow pastels to colour in  the top of it, after that step I used the brown to colour in the under belly. I used the green to draw a line on the top of the belly, I also used the black to do the outside shape.

I enjoyed drawing the moon, because it brings out the background.

I found it hard to draw the outline of the kuri, In my mind I was thinking of a hyena and a wolf and that's how I created my kuri.

I found it easy to draw the moon, as I look at many moons and know the shape.

Holy Week

 This week we have been learning about Holy Week, this is the story of Jesus from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. We were learning to summarise. The creators are  Baxter  Charlie Miss Michaela and me. I found recording hard because one of us had to talk and the

others had to do the puppets.

March reflection

Today we were reflecting on our work we did in March, we do this to reflect on our learning and what we do in our class. Here is my reflection for March.

Sea Week

We have been meaning to make connections about what we read. I read about how plastic is killing our sea creatures. When we found a WOW fact we put it on Jamboard. Then we made slides with some facts and sea creatures pictures and background images. Then we turned it into a GIF. Kylah and Mya helped me.

 

My Lenten Promise

 For Lent I have made 3 promises. I promise to give up Burger King, I promise to pray every day and I promise to help Mum clean our rooms. 

I think giving up Burger King will be hard because I want to try the fish burger.

Chinese New Year

For reading we were learning to summarise. I found out that 2021 is the year of the ox which is my year too. The people born in this year of the ox's personality traits are patience and  diligence. The ox represents good luck in China. The ox is honourable, simple and patient. I don't think I am patient but I am the other two.

Crime Scene Investigation

For reading we were learning to make connections between what we read. In our group you had to have a fingerprint expert, a fibre expert, a handwriting expert and a fibre expert. I was the fingerprint expert. You had to go to a science workshop to be an expert. there are three different fingerprints - loop and whorl and arch.

Then we got given crime scene kit that had a book about the suspects and an evidence bag. Our group worked out who it was. It was the cleaner. She stole the computer from the house.

 My name is Sam. I am a Year 6. I go to Saint Mary’s School. I have a mum and dad, one sister and a cat called Frankie.

I am good at Art and Maths. I like doing fitness and Art at school. My challenges are to get better at Reading and Writing. My goal is to complete my work on time. 

I am looking forward to going on school trips and discos. I am inspired by Pop Cross Studios when I am doing Art.
