ice Candles

 

We made Ice Candles for science. Our science topic is Changes.

Step1 cut the top of the container open

Step2 rub oil around the carton so nothing sticks to the sides.

Step 3 put the skinny candle inside the milk carton

Step 4  put a handful of ice tubes inside the carton

Step 5 melt some old candles

Step 6 pour the melted wax in the carton

Step 7 let it set

Step 8 rip the tablet of the Ice Candle

When we ripped the carton open water started pouring out because the hot wax had melted it and left holes. I was amazed.

 I enjoyed being able to use the voice typing tool to write.  I found it hard to figuring out what I wanted to write. Here's what I sent:

St Mary’s School is a Green Gold Enviro school. Native birds need some clear water to drink from. Freshwater creatures need clean water to live in. We have planted native trees but we can't plant anymore native trees because there are blackberry bushes in the way. The council needs to get rid of them but they haven’t been responding to the school. I think they should do their job.

we uploaded the photo, and choose four different art effects to put on my photo. Then you save each photo to your computer. Once you have done this then I opened them on a google drawing, to resize them into one large square here is my picture.

what's up guys  I just wanted to do a blog post of   well my artwork   is that I did for this week.   well I did a snake train that turns into  a pair of leagues.    and then  I did a T-Rex  truck that turns into the chest. then I did a gorilla that turns into a tank  and an arm.   then I did a helicopter that turned into a eagle and a hand. then I did a airplane that turns into a pterodactyl   and arm an hand.  then I did a robot dragon that turns into a head.

Te Wiki o te Reo Maori

I made a book to help people understand Maori language. My one is Maori names for animals. I found it hard to find the pictures I needed. I also found it hard to do the audio because I am still learning how to say the words properly.

My Speech

 In class we have been learning to write speeches. 

I found it easy to do the speech.

I found it hard to do the screencastify.

Walking School bus

 This week we were reading about the walking School Bus, I learnt that you have to have parents with the group at all  times on the walking school bus, because the kids might get ran over so adults have to hold their hands. Also that the walking school bus can only have a group of 12 at a time because if there is any more the parents won't be able to keep an eye on them. On rainy days they use umbrellas. I would feel sad if I had to go on a walking school bus because it's much slower and I live to far from school.

Sacraments of Initiation

I was learning about the Sacraments. They are a sign of God. There are 3 Sacraments of Initiation. They are Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. These 3 Sacraments welcome you into the church.

Wild Wolf facts

 This week we have been reading Saving Wild Wolves, My task was to make a google slide about wild wolf facts. I read through the book to find facts about them, and have put them on a google slide.

I found it easy to go looking for the facts, since I have read through the book three times. I found it tricky to find a picture that I liked on google.

 I was learning to use short sentences, you some sentences in joining words, use some sentences with a phrase added.

I found it fun too discovering new bird.

I found it difficult to try and figure out the correct words

next time I will do a different bird.

Maths Times tables Check-Up

 We have been learning our times tables. I have been learning my 5 times tables and 10s times. Today we had a check up. It showed I know 3 x 5, 7 x 10, 9 x 10 and 10 x 10. I am still learning the others.

Ruru art

 Ruru in maori stands for Owl and this is my Ruru art.  We used colored dye, to blend and color in our owl. I use these two patterns because they were interested. I found it easy to draw the Ruru, but I found it hard to choose what colours I was going to blend.

Two of my slime task

  This week for reading the two tasks for Slime was to draw a robot, and  to draw a slime creature.  I choose to do a robot bird because  a bird makes loud noises. The loud noises scream high pitch to wake kids up.

 I done the Slime cat because I wondered what Slime would look like if he turned into a cat.  These are my two creations.

I enjoyed designing them, I loved how I was able to add in the red which made it look like it was glowing.

Faith

This week we have been learning about faith. We had to create a google slide about it. I used a quote from The Bible.
I think faith means to trust or believe in someone.
I enjoyed making the combination of two images together - the love heart and the angels.
I found it tricky to write what I meant.
Next time I would change the red colour to green maybe.

Report Learning Lions

This week we have been learning how to write  a report. We were given a level 3 report on lions which was all cut up into sentences. Charlie and I  worked in a small group Miss Mikayla and Mrs B helped us. We read over the sentences and put them into paragraphs that had the same ideas and facts. Then we laid them together on the table. First we gave it a title Lions, and then a classification which is talking about its family and genes.  Next we grouped the ideas on a piece of blue card.

We learnt that a report need a title, a classification, a description, ideas grouped in paragraphs. we need to use adjectives,  specific nouns, subject specific vocabulary.

I found the easy to write the sentences, I found it tricky to glue because the pieces of paper were too skinny, next time I would choose a different topic.

I found it tricky writing the words. I found it fun to colour in the stars. Next time I would use better colours.

Jurne Reflection

We are reflecting on our June work.
I found it easy to comment on my friend Charlie J's reflection.
I found it tricky to find out what points we had, I found this out by looking at the group points on the tv.

Pattern Ball

We are learning how to  communicate and work as a team.
Ball 1 is a netball, we have to chest pass it. Ball 2 is a soccer ball we had to bounce pass this one and  ball 3 is a rugby ball we rugby passed this. I found it easy to pass two of the balls they were the netball and the soccer ball. I found the rugby pass tricky. I had to pass to Charlie M, Logan was the one who passed the ball to me.

Matariki is a group of 9 stars that can be seen from June the 16th to July the 20th.
These nine stars are called,
Matariki, the second star is Pohutukawa, the  third is Waita
the fourth star is Waiti the sixth star Waipuna-a-Rangi
the seventh is Tapuanuku, the 8th  is Tupuarangi, the next is Ururangi, and the final star is Hiwa-i-te-Rangi.

Martas before and after Journey

For reading we read a story about Marta, we had to recreate Martas story of her journey coming to New Zealand. I enjoyed making the slideshows with shapes, and a picture for the background. The slides show Marta at school,The first slide shows before Marta had come to New Zealand and she is happy playing with her friends. The second slide shows Marta sitting under a tree and getting bullied by three other kids at her new School. I think she was getting bullied because she was different, It isn't very nice.

Ahmets journey

I was learning to use visual language features such as headings, charts, or maps to extend or clarify meaning and to engage our audience. I found it easy to voice type. I found it tricky to find the images . Next time I would speak more Clearly.

turnty Sunday

Today in class we leanred about Trinity Sunday, Mrs Naden showed us an apple, The Holy Trinity means 3 in 1. The apple shows us that the skin of the apple is like God, he protects us. The flesh is Jesus, He nourishs us. And the Seeds are The Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit creates and plants the fruit of the Spirit. It was interesting, I like watching the video about Adam and eve and the apple falling on his head.

I learnt how to change my background on my blog, I used my Koru art as the background.
We changed the title of our names to pictures, and I choose this diamond texture, it is green and yellow. I thought it was intersting and would get more people to view my blog.

Hail Mary

We are learning how to do the Hail Mary in Sign Language.
I enjoyed practising with the class.
I found the actions tricky.

Homophones

We are learning to recognise homophones, recognising the words there, their and they're. There is used referred to a place.  They're  is a contraction meaning they are. Their means belonging to them.

Pentecost

we are learning about Pentecost. The dove represents peace and the Flame represents the Holy Spirit.
The disciples got a  gift to speak different languages, the flames were on the  disciples head to spread the word.
I enjoyed learning about Pentecost, I found it easy to trace the picture of the bird and glue it in my R.E book. I found it hard to cut the traced picture.

Torch Challenge

We were learning to make a closed circuit. Ours didn't work. We were trying lots of different ways but none of them worked.

We will research it up next time how to make a lightbulb circuit.

Movie Time

Movie Time


Snuggled beneath the blanket warm and cosy on my black bean bag, I relaxed and got excited about what is going to happen in the movie. Half way through the movie Ella fell asleep she was excited to watch the movie but she was exhausted. She looks cute and curled up with mum. Like a rat, I sneaked 7 packets of chips all for myself when Mum wasn't looking. In the middle of the coolest part, Bree and her friends turned up and interrupted us. I turned around to see who was here but the movie was so good I kept watching. Spoiler alert Maleficent is Sleeping Beauty's mum! I loved this movie.
our learning intention for this week is to use a hook use juicy verbs different sentence starters.
